Fantasy Football Projections - 2009
Sept 9
Fantasy Football projections are difficult to make, but people make them all the time. At FanHandle, we've built a Fantasy Projection Builder tool that lets you go in and make them yourself. You can find it at (take a guess) http://www.fanhandle.com
Each week, I'm going to do my best to get what *I* think are good projections up and available on this blog. You may agree with them - you may disagree. They may turn out to be great, or they might be hopelessly off. The fun (for me) is in coming up with them, and I think you might enjoy it as well if, like most fantasy owners, you like football and football statistics.
In these lists, I'm going to break the players lists down into Starters and Backups each week. If you have players on your team who aren't in the Starters or Backups list, it means that you think differently than my particular settings in the Fantasy Projection Builder does... and that is fine! Everyone has their own ideas :)
For consistency's sake, I'm using the default Yahoo! scoring rules, default Yahoo! league size of 10 teams, and default Yahoo! rosters (Starters: 1 QB; 3 WR; 2 RB; 1 TE; 1 K; 1 DEF/ST + 6 Bench, which I'll break down as: 1 QB; 2 WR; 2 RB; 1 DEF... there is a lot more variety in DEF than in K or TE)
I've used the Fantasy Projection Builder settings to come up with projections for QBs based on their previous 2 years of production, while I've only used 17 weeks for all other positions. The tool lets you choose to use any number of weeks from 1-17, 2 years, 3 years or the player's entire career dating back to 2001. We didn't think data prior to 2001 was particularly relevant... if you want to start Edgerrin James based on his 1999 and 2000 seasons with the Colts, be my guest.
I hope you find these projections useful, and that you try the tool out for yourself at http://www.fanhandle.com
Enjoy!
John
